Furrey went to college at Northern Iowa and had over 1,000 yards in three seasons there. He initially joined the Indianapolis Colts during training camp in 2000 as a non-drafted free agent. The following year he played with the Outlaws in Las Vegas the now nonexistent XFL. He went to the AFL in 2002 and played for the New York Dragons. He did well enough in 2002 to be signed by the Rams St. Louis in 2003. He played in 13 games in the 2003 season with the Rams. That season he had 20 receptions for 189 yards and 11 punt return and seven statements kick. He spent two seasons with the Rams, but it went mostly to play the defense in 2005. That year, he had 48 tackles, eight passes defended, four interceptions and one touchdown. He arrived in Detroit in 2006 and has 98 receptions for 1086 yards and six touchdowns this season. He began in 10 of 16 games he played in 2007, catching a touchdown. In 2008, Furrey had only started two games and amassed 181 yards receiving.
Detroit mark just the third team this season Colbert, who also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos. The fifth-year pro is went to college at USC and was drafted in the second round of the 2004 draft by the Carolina Panthers. He started 15 games his rookie season, having accumulated 754 yards and five touchdowns. The following year he started in all games for 282 yards and two touchdowns. He played in 12 games in 2006 but has started on three. He started eight of 12 games he played in 2007 and had 332 yards. He signed with Denver in 2008 and played two games before being traded to the Seahawks. In Seattle, he played seven games and started four, counting the 52 yards and a touchdown.
The Lions have recently been adding players to try to turn around their luck as quarterback Daunte Culpepper. They also fired their president, Matt Millen earlier this season. The Lions will not try to be the first team with a 0-16 record when they face teams as the New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers.
