In March 2006, Universal Pictures announced a remake of The Wolf Man with actor Benicio del Toro (a fan of the original film and a collector of memories Wolf Man) in the lead role. [4] [5] Writer Andrew Kevin Walker was attached to the scenario, the development history of the original film to include additional characters and plot points that would take advantage of modern visual effects. [6] Del Toro also looked into Werewolf of London and The Curse Of The Werewolf of inspiration. [7]
In February 2007, director Mark Romanek was attached to The Wolfman bar. [6] In January 2008, Romanek left the project due to "creative differences". [8] Brett Ratner emerged as a favorite to replace Romanek, but the studio also met with Frank Darabont, James Mangold and Joe Johnston. Baker and del Toro stressed design resembling the make-up created by Jack Pierce, but Romanek has crossed thousands of concept art. Johnston has signed on, Baker returned to his second design, which is the final result. [18] The composition took three hours to apply, and an hour to remove. New Parts makeup prosthetic latex and long hair has been applied del Toro to face each day, while several prostheses and wigs were created in case some were damaged. [17] Baker said that the transformation will probably be generated by computer, which disappoints as it is not in question and therefore believes it is realistic (as the animators have knowledge of the design).
