Timothy J. Russert Highway

Postby Bender on Wed Jul 23, 2008 5:13 pm

WASHINGTON -- President Bush has signed a bill honoring the late NBC
newsman Tim Russert by naming a stretch of highway in New York after him.

The portion of U.S. Route 20a is close to Buffalo, the hometown of
Russert, the host of NBC's "Meet the Press" and its Washington bureau
chief, who died of a heart attack June 13. Designated the "Timothy J.
Russert Highway," the span, located in Orchard Park, runs near Ralph
Wilson Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills. Russert was an avid sports
fan who was passionate about the Bills, his hometown football team.

I specifically remember reading that it was to be Southwestern Blvd=20
(Rt20). When did it change to 20A, which is Big Tree Rd?=

Personally I think it is a dumb idea. It is great that he was a Bills
fan, but so many more people do many more important things than being
a political commentator.

What next? Rename "Chippewa St" to "Obama Boulevard"????

No, Chippewa and Delaware is reserved as "Marshawn Lynch Intersection."

You obviously don't live in WNY or have any idea of the impact this man
had in the entire community. He was an ambassador for the whole area. A
all around good guy.

And being the head of NBC news along with being a special counsel for
U.S. Senator 'Daniel Patrick Moynihan' for five years and then a
counselor for ex-Gov. Mario Cuomo, is hardly being a political
commentator.

Actually I did live in the WNY area.

I don't think streets should be named after politicians

I think Father Baker deserves far more respect than Bill Russert.

I think Russert was a great Buffalonian and Bills fan, but many more
have given with much less fanfare.

Oh my, I guess you must be downright livid about Lincoln, NE, Jackson,
MS, Madison, WI, and Jefferson City, MO, Monroe, the entire state of
Washington, Washngton, DC.

For someone who claims to have lived in WNY you know very little about
the area or have never been to Lackawanna. And who is Bill Russert?

Really? Whom would those people be?
