Infant missing from Oakland, California Truck Accident
Police have suspended their efforts to find a 10-month-old baby missing after a truck accident in Oakland, California, on Saturday evening. The unidentified child was one of seven people who were riding in a van that apparently collided with a limousine, then toppled over, falling into a roadside canal, which was filed with rainwater. The truck overturned in the water, and two adults and two children over in the truck, all unidentified, were injured. The driver of the truck, 19-year-old Petelo Uaisele has been killed in truck accident. He is suspected of having been trapped in the truck, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Search teams began an extensive search operation on Sunday morning. Operations included a dive team, and involved a 2 mile stretch along the road where the truck accident occurred. The child is considered were reckless, and was apparently ejected from the truck at the time of impact. He is suspected of having been washed away mud that had been swollen by recent rains.
Police ended their search operations on Sunday evening after it became dark, and it was evident that the search would be futile. Cops admitted that the odds were stacked against them from the beginning. After all, they were looking for a body of 10 months child dirty flowing rainwater. Others said that visibility was low, which makes the task of recovering the bodies that much more difficult. The other passengers in the car had non-threatening injuries putting their lives and were admitted to the hospital.
There are many questions to be raised after car accident especially given the way the children were transported in the truck. It has not been confirmed about the child's family at this point. It is obvious that they regret their decision not to have the child in a car seat. Police said that alcohol and speed does not seem to be a factor in the crash truck.
